Safety Team

From BeVolunteer Wiki

[edit top section]

The Safety Team takes care of abuse cases that might occurr within BeWelcome. There are members whose profiles do not comply with the rules of BeWelcome, members who send out spam and those who abuse the comment feature to attack other members. The Safety Team has to make sure that rules are complied with and to take further steps if they are not. It would be idealistic to assume that any abuse team could effectively prevent abuse cases between members happening in the real world. However, the BeWelcome Safety Team will strive to find better and better means to minimize the risks of anything like that happening. One of the main tasks of the Safety Team will be to communicate with members reporting abuse cases and the accused members.

What skills / knowledge do you need to help?

You have to know BeWelcome (and possibly other hospitality networks) very well and you have to have some experience as a volunteer in other teams such as Support Team or Forum Moderation Team. Before you you will deal with severe abuse cases you should have been a member of the Spam or Comment Team. Of course you should be good at communication, very careful and objective, diplomatic but not afraid to say what needs to be said. All the Abuse Team has to agree with approving a new volunteer for this team.

How much time should you be able to spend on this task?

You have to be somewhat of a BeWelcome addict :-)
